“William was able to win the Battle of Hastings because of the soldiers that he had available”.

How far do you agree with this?

  2. Thanks for your comment - to improve you should consider the following:

I=You should developed a bit more detail e.g. The Normans used archers at Hastings.
D= Give facts and details about the archers - your description does not current match your point.
E=Your first explanation was about William but your point is about archers - explain how archers helped him to win this battle.
A=Your first assessment was about land. You should be assessing if Norman archers agrees with the question or not ans evaluating how important they were to William for winning the battle.

  3. I Harold Godwinson dismantled his army
D William could fight but godwinsons army was dismantled

  4. I: Williams soldiers where well trained.
D: Williams soldiers had more of a chance of winning because they where well trained and the Anglo-Saxons where mainly farmers and untrained.
E: all of Williams soldiers helped William win the war by using tactics and strategies.
A: I think this agrees with the question because William had well trained soldiers

  6. I=Norman knights

E=because William wanted to win the war he strategically got his horses and knights to weaken the Anglo-Saxon wall

  7. I=Williams soldiers were better trained than Harold's
D=Harold's soldiers were untrained so William had a better advantage
E=William made his soldiers be strategic and clever e.g. pretending to retreat
A=i think this argues with the question that William was strategic and Harold wasn't so that s why William won the war

  8. I
    Norman Archers
    D
William had his archers trained so they could hit anything up to 100m away.
    E
The archers could hold the Anglo-Saxons in a certain position so they can’t advance forwards.
    A
This kind of does agree with the question because without William’s archers he would have he would have lost because the Anglo-Saxons would be able to move forward and kill them.

  11. I: William won the battle because of the troops he had e.g. archers and Calvary because the archers were long range and are very tactical and the Calvary were fast and packed a punch.

D:They were able to lure the Anglo- Saxons down the hill by false retreating.

E: Their entire Calvary can charge at them also it made the Saxons weak and vulnerable.

A: This is with the question if haven’t noticed already.

    A: I think this agrees

  15. I: Saxons defence
D: there defence was mainly making walls with there shields.
E: this helped William win because it was weak defence so he could send in men on horse to stab them from above.

D-He had lots of friends in high places.
E-They were well trained men prepared for war.
